5/2/10 Update!
Brother Knights,
Don Niebrugge (our Regional Director) just returned from the State Convention and called me a few minutes ago to announce that Mattoon Council 1057 won the STATE of ILLINOIS PROGRAM OF THE YEAR AWARD. This is for our Spaghetti Dinner fund raiser we put on for the Villa Pizza Employees Fund after the fire.
As a Council this is BIG and we should be humbly proud of ourselves and the Mattoon community that supports us. I believe I can speak for all of us in thanking all who organized and worked this huge event. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To my understanding, we have receiver slightly in excess of $30,000 for this worthy cause. WOW!!
We have one of the most active Councils in the state thanks to you, our members.

Brother Knights,
It appears we served nearly 1000 meals in less than 3 hours. Incredible!!!!! The ticket count was somewhere between 950 and 1000. Just over $5500 in ticket sales. With other monetary contributions in the fish bowls we've exceeded $15,000. The final total is yet to be discerned as money is coming in the mail over the next few days. We had about 12 dinners and half a sheet cake left. There was never a line outside in the doors and the wait never exceeded 20 minutes. With seating of 350, I'd say God is still in control.
People have asked where they can obtain a commemorative t-shirt. Just call or go to Fit-To-A-Tee (phone 235-4501 address 413 N. 15th St.) Simply order your size. The donation is $10.00. This will be given to the Villa Employees Fund.
A huge THANK YOU to all of our Brother Knights who answered the call for help. As you might expect we had more help then necessary but that is typical of our Council.
